In this course, students will learn to recognize storytelling techniques in the stories they read and use them in their own writing. Students will learn to understand and develop plots and characters so they can express their creativity by writing an original short story.
Topics contain the following:
- Writing Prompt
- Plot, beginning-middle-end
- Main characters (Strengths, flaws, goals)
- Side characters(friends, antagonists)
- Descriptions (Show don’t tell)
- Fantasy and sci-fi
- Poetry(Rhyme and Rhythm)
- Planning a story
- Sharing stories and critiques
